Jumping Fox

This luxury dot grid journal from Jumping Fox Planners has uncoated paper that performs well with coloured pencils, ball-point pens and watercolours. The absorbent nature of the paper means it doesn’t work so well with fountain pens. The experience of using the journal is different to most dot grid journals because of the rougher, more porous paper, and is highly recommended as a basic journal or for those that like working with coloured pencils or watercolour.

I was curious to try a 120gsm paper journal and the Jumping Fox journal definitely appealed because of its ‘luxury’ finish.

The presentation of the journal is very luxurious. It’s well-packaged and bound and has a muted sparkle on the leatherette cover, making it a great gift. While the semi-smooth paper isn’t wonderful for use with a fountain pen, it is great with a wide range of pens, coloured pencils and I enjoyed using it with watercolour paints.

For those people looking for a smaller journal (this one has 140 pages), I happily recommend this journal, particularly if you are minimalist in style and unlikely to want to use a lot of heavy inks. I actually use mine in scrapbooking style, with Tombow dual brush pens and Microns, with an occasional splash of watercolour and I love the results.
