I reviewed the hardcover and softcover versions of the Leuchtturm1917 classic dot grid notebook together, as there are only a few minor differences. I have previously reviewed the Bullet Journal 120gsm version, which can be found here https://theusefuljournal.com/product/leuchtturm1917-120gsm/
The classic notebook in both formats has 80gsm paper optimised for fountain pen use. The hardcover is made in Taiwan and the softcover in China. The hardcover has twice the number of pages and the softcover version as a result is significantly more expensive. If you’re wanting to use watercolours, look elsewhere, but if you just want to use pens, including fountain pens, it’s worth investigating, but overall, the journal doesn’t have any outstanding results or features, but it is easily accessible from stores in many countries around the world.
My in-depth review video looks at the construction, features and markings of the journal, the quality of the paper, the environmental sustainability of the journal, interesting information about the company, and includes a pen test of a full range of pens and watercolour paints. See my pen test page for an explanation of each test.
