This white and kraft paper dot grid journal has been released by Life of Colour, an Australian business that sells art supplies best for mandala. It’s in a colour and paper style that I haven’t tried before, but the red and gold foil cover is very striking and the leatherette has a brushed velvet finish that feels lovely.
The journal has an elastic closure, pen loop and ribbon bookmarks, one with a charm. A distinctive feature of the journal is some of the introductory pages that include two colouring pages (a nod to the background of the business) and a goals page that is similar to the Level 10 Life system. There are 160 pages of 160gsm paper. It feels like a pretty good journal, the paper copes with everything you throw at it (although the kraft paper makes some pens skip a little) and I’m so happy to find yet another Australian brand.
My in-depth review video looks at the business and their products, the construction, features and markings of the journal, the paper, the business’ approach to sustainability, and a pen test of a full range of pens and watercolour paints. See my pen test page for an explanation of each test.
