Midori

This notebook is a novelty offering from Midori, with six coloured notebooks with matching coloured paper and dots. They seem to be available in various countries, but not common, so you might have to hunt around for one, and I’m not sure if they were a limited release. The pastel colours are beautiful and could be used in the small notebook, or cut out for use in other journals without adding too much bulk.

Midori notebooks have been around for a long time and have an excellent reputation with fountain pen users. Or do they? This A5 notebooks that come in a range of colours and also come in a spiral bound version. The journal does NOT have Midori MD paper, which is the paper I loved in the Traveler’s Notebook review, and unfortunately it isn’t as good. I can’t find direct links to the notebook on Midori’s website, so the coloured paper journals may have been a limited release.

I bought myself a white notebook, but I definitely fell in love first with the paper colours in the pink and purple versions. I am using the white notebook to demonstrate how a beginner’s journal can be set up creatively for bullet journaling.

My in-depth review video looks at the company and their products, the construction, features and markings of the journal, the paper, the company’s approach to environmental and social responsibility, and includes a pen test of a full range of pens (with a special fountain pen test) and watercolour paints. See my pen test page for an explanation of each test.
