This journal is owned by an Australian female. It’s pretty small, so I suspect she’s doing it all on her own! It’s an unfortunate choice of name because when you search on Slow Journal you get an Australian company for a bi-annual publication that explores slow living and sustainability. As far as I know there is no connection. The company for the dot grid notebook is slowjournal.com.AU.
The journal is a pretty standard offering, with a fairly standard linen cover and foil stamp image. It comes with a key page and index, and some people won’t like that the page numbers are inside the grid, not below it. A standout issue in my copy is that while the grid is 5mm across, they’re only 4.9mm going down the page – this is a consistent problem throughout the journal, and when it’s new it has a strong chemical smell. It comes in a box, along with free stickers. I’m very happy to say the owner contributes to the planting of one tree for each journal sold.
It’s great to have a local option in Australia (we don’t have many and shipping is sometimes prohibitive). They ship to Australia, New Zealand and the USA only.
My in-depth review video looks at the business and their products, the construction, features and markings of the journal, the paper, Slow Journal’s approach to sustainability, and includes a pen test of a full range of pens and watercolour paints. See my pen test page for an explanation of each test.
