I used this journal as my 2021 bullet journal and loved it at the time, but did have some problems with it. I can confirm the Dragonfly collection is definitely 160gsm and is either hardcover (the illustrated ones) or linen. I’ve asked the company to correct their marketing materials and they’ve now responded to my emails and confirmed they’re sorting this problem out. I’ve got a much better view of their customer service now 🙂 They’ve since been ignoring emails again…
This is a reasonable quality journal at a low price. The dots look darker than usual, but they’re not, they’re just larger than usual, which makes them stand out more. I was worried about this at first, but it doesn’t bother me at all after using it for a while. The outer paper layer of the spine cracked after using the journal for six months, but the inner layer held firm, so the journal stayed together.
The journal isn’t perfect with watercolour, but none of these 160gsm journals are. It does cope pretty well though, and only bleeds through if you use a LOT of water (I won’t do that again). There is no ghost or bleed from any of the other pens or markers I have used.
The One Minute review has a summary of the key positives and negatives of the journal and my in-depth review video looks at the construction of the journal, the quality of the paper, interesting information about the company, and includes a pen test of a full range of pens and watercolour paints. See my pen test page for an explanation of each test.Â
