The 1584 notebook by Hahnemühle has 80 dot grid ivory pages either side of 40 plain purple pages in the centre. The 90gsm paper is great with fountain pens but has a few issues with ghosting and bleed through, so I’d stick to lighter and drier inks. The pages do dry fast though, which is handy when using fountain pens. Watercolours don’t go through the page, but they do cause a lot of page crinkle.
My in-depth review video will look at the construction, features and markings of the journal, the quality of the paper, the environmental sustainability of the journal, interesting information about the company, and includes a pen test of a full range of pens and watercolour paints. See my pen test page for an explanation of each test.
