Iroful from Sakae TP in Japan has only been around since 2022, so is a relative newcomer on the paper notebook scene. It’s a very simply constructed ntoebook, in the same fashion as the Midori MD notebooks, and like those notebooks is beautifully put together. The 75gsm paper is ivory and comes in dot grid, or if you prefer, graph or blank. This paper has been designed for fountain pens. The texture of the paper isn’t as smooth as the Life Noble Note or Mnemosyne notebooks. Rather it is a bit more like the Leuchtturm1917 paper. There’s no extras on this notebook, just the cover and dot grid paper, but it’s very slimline considering it has 192 pages (96 sheets), and I look forward to seeing how it performs with fountain pens.
My in-depth review video will look at the company and their products, the construction, features and markings of the journal, the paper, the company’s approach to environmental and social responsibility, and includes a pen test of a full range of pens (with a special fountain pen test) and watercolour paints. See my pen test page for an explanation of each test.
